Tiger Sharks Swim Team

The Tiger Shark Swim team is divided into seven practice groups or levels: Red, White, Blue, Pre-Senior, High School Prep, Senior 2, and Senior 1.  Each group has the goal of preparing the athletes for the next level of competition.  As the athlete progresses, commitment, swimming, training knowledge, mental toughness, and technical expertise is increased and improved upon.  Physical conditioning, mental strength and life lessons from competitive swimming are the desired products of the program.

 Evaluations Mandatory for all new swimmers!!!

 All Fall/Winter fees must be paid in full or in four equal installments.  The first installment of  25% will be due at the time of registration. (The first installment is non-refundable)

 2nd Installment of 25% due Sept 15th

3rd Installment due of 25% Oct 15th

4th Installment due of 25% Nov 15th

 

Red Group (Ages 6-9) For youngsters who can perform the four competitive strokes and are ready to learn more advanced stroke skills and technique. Stroke, turn and start instruction are emphasized. Fun and participation while building a love for swimming is the focus.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 4:15-5:30PM

White Group (Ages 9-13) Competitive training is introduced. Emphasis still on stroke technique and proper skills. Practice includes dry land.

 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 5:45-7:15PM

Price: $786.00

Blue Group (Ages 10-14) Transitional level where swimmers move from primarily stroke instruction to actual competitive training. Swimmers are motivated and committed to be their best. Emphasis on preparation for higher levels of training and competition. Good technique is of utmost importance. Practice includes dry land.

Saturday 10:00 AM -12:00 PM

Pre Senior Group (Ages 12 and up) For athletes with desire and ability to train and compete at the highest levels. Swimmers will train to compete at the local and regional level with goals  of competing at the YMCA National Level. Practice time includes dry land.

Saturday– 7:15AM-9:15AM

AM Practices by Coach’s Invitation

Senior 1 Group (Girls ages 13 and up, Boys ages 14 and up) For athletes with desire and ability to train and compete at the regional level with focus on competing at the YMCA Nationals. Practice time includes dry land. Before entering the Senior group, all swimmers must have a meeting with the head coach with their parents present.

 Monday through Friday: 3:45-6:30 PM

Sunday: 5:45-8:30PM

Tuesday & Friday AM: 5:00-6:30AM

Senior 2 Group (Ages 14 and up) For High School age athletes with desire and ability to train and compete at the highest levels. Swimmers will train to compete at local and regional levels with goals of competing at the YMCA National Level.

High School Prep Group This group is for high school aged athletes.  There will be four practices a week prior to the High School season and three practices a week offered during the High School season. These  swimmers will not be permitted to compete in YMCA dual meets. They are welcome to participate in  YMCA/USA invitational meets.

Wednesday 7:15-9:00 PM (No Wed during HS Season)

 Zoomers

 For the swimmer ages 9 and under who has completed YMCA’s Flying Fish level skills and wants to continue into competitive swimming. There are novice competitive experiences offered.  (This group does not compete as part of the competitive team).  This group meets once a week

 For the competitive swimmer wanting to maintain their aerobic base while continuing to improve their skills in all four competitive strokes.  Evaluations are required for anyone who was not on a competitive team during the past year.

SUMMER COMPETITIVE SWIM CAMP
 

 

Every Friday from 10:00 – 2:00                         Starting 6/25/10 through 8/27/10

            These four hour classes will be limited to 16 swimmers.

Please reserve your space before classes are full.

 

Each class on Friday will focus on a specific stroke and will be broken down into four sessions (video, stroke technique, dives and turns, and training).

You can sign-up for as many classes as you would like to attend

 

The price for each four hour class will be:

$75 for full privileged OCY members

$100 for non-members

Coach Dave Eldridge will be leading the classes each week.

Coach Dave has 15 years of coaching experience.

He has coach alongside Olympic Coach’s as well as trained world class athletes

as a student assistant coach for the nationally ranked University of Arizona.

During his swimming career he held two age group national records, won

junior nations in the 200 & 400 IM, and place in the top eight at senior nationals with

a world ranking of 20th.   At the University of Arizona he trained with world class and

Olympic medalist Athletes from both the US and Australia, as well as attended the  1984 U.S. Olympic Trials.
