College: 1994 Graduate of the State University of New York at New Paltz
Swimming/Coaching experience:
As a swimmer Coach Lou was a six time Division III NCAA National Champion, winning the 200 and 500 Free his sophomore, junior, and senior years. He also was a Senior National qualifier in the 200 and 400 Meter Freestyle. In 1999 Louis was inducted into the SUNY New Paltz Athletic Hall of Fame.
As a coach this is Louis's 15th year working as swim coach.
The summers of 1993 and 1994 Louis worked as a Coach/Counselor at the Jack Nelson Swim Camp out of the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
In 1995 Louis took over the Head Coach position at the Northwest CT YMCA. In the 4 years that Louis was the head Coach the team grew from 45 to 100 swimmers, and during that time the team went from last place (10th) his first year to first place his 4th year in the Yankee Cluster YMCA Swim League. The one and only time the Northwest YMCA has won their league.
In 1999 Louis moved to Marietta, GA to work as a full time assistant coach with Stingrays Swimming. During his 3 year with Stingrays he worked with every level of their swim program from developmental swimmers through sectional finalists.
In 2002 Louis took over as head coach of the Ocean County YMCA. The team has grown from 160 swimmers to 240 swimmer this 6th year. He has instilled the philosophy of "None of the secrets of success work unless you do!!" or NOTSOSWUYD. While coaching here at OCY Louis has twice been selected to work as a Zone Team coach for New Jersey swimming, once as an assistant and once as Head Coach. In 2007 the men's team placed 14th at the YMCA National Championships. Louis also serves on the Board of the Northern NJ YMCA Swim League.
